But he knew how to take advantage of the crisis to maintain and make physical updates.
This tourist train that runs along the Creel, Chihuahua-Los MochisSinaloa, joined that list of companies from various sectors called non-essential, which had to stop their operations.
From March 23 to July 17, 2020, El Chepe Exprés, a subsidiary of Grupo México, was detained.
Jimena Ramírez, deputy director of Tourism at Ferromex, described that once it was reactivated little by little and as the measures allowed by the authorities are updated, the percentage of occupancy has increased, with a strict sanitary protocol in accordance with national and international standards.
The other train is the Chepe Express, which celebrated its third anniversary on May 18, and is the so-called luxury train, with three categories: first class, business class and tourist class.
With both the Chepe Regional and the Chepe Express, being the only passenger trains of their kind in the country, Ramírez said that they seek to attract more and more tourist profiles.
“We are covering a market that was previously very focused on the elderly, which was mostly, and today it is already more distributed, very equitable, and right now as the issue of combating the pandemic improves, we intend that more Mexican families have a chance to meet him.”
He recalled that regional-local tourism is given a 30 percent discount, 15 percent for older adults and 20 for children.
