Los Mochis, Sinaloa. -The work of convincing has been decisive for adults to accept the advice of the personnel assigned to the Sinaloa Institute of Education for Youth and Adults in the Municipality of Ahome and the Mochicahu syndicate and learn to read and write, said Rosendo Bojórquez Ceballos.

The head of the Iseja in this area recalled that this September 8 was the international day for literacy created by UNESCO in 1967 and since then the work is permanent so that the world of letters is dominated by all people.

He stated that it is satisfying to reach the goal because when you learn to read and write there is independence, they can take their medications without help, use a cell phone, read the menu in a restaurant and these are actions that provide adults with a better quality of life.

“The more we go to the rural area, the further we are from the city, there are more people who do not know how to read or write, as a result of the fact that schools do not reach those places and access to education is complicated. We have 102 advisers in rural and urban areas, who give advice to people who are behind in education and who do not know how to read and write, primary and secondary,” he specified.

He explained that the Iseja Ahome Office in addition to covering this municipality, also serves the union of Mochicahui and so far this year they have achieved the literacy of 92 people, while at the end of 2021 there were 188.

He specified that according to Inegi census of 2020 in this region there are 8,219 people over 15 years of age who cannot read or write, and this figure represents 2.4 percent of the population in this age segment, which is 349,692.
