The rise in the prices of processed foods reported an annual growth of 14.09% in November, exceeding for the first time in 17 months the rise in agricultural products, which was 8.89%, a rate much lower than the 14.25% observed a month earlier, they reveal. the data published by the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi).
As a result of the above, the general prices of food, excluding beverages and tobacco, reported an annual increase of 12.54%, a lower rate than the 14.48% average registered last October.
Among the processed foods, those that reported the greatest increases were: wheat flour with an annual increase of 35.00%; white bread 29.88%; vegetable oils and fats, 23.15%; packaged sweet bread, 23.36%; box bread, 19.82%; wheat flour tortillas, 23.64%; pasta for soup, 21.20%; maize dough and flour, 17.54%; and corn tortilla, 16.82%.
Likewise, increases in the prices of mayonnaise and mustard were reported with an annual increase of 21.7%; soluble coffee, 17.97%; evaporated, condensed and formula milk, 13.67%; liquid chocolate and to prepare drinks, 14.90%; and sugar, 12.92%.
Within the agricultural goods generated directly in the field, the increase in the cost of fruits and vegetables registered an annual increase of 3.44% in November, a rate much lower than the 12.63% reported a month earlier and the lowest since June 2021.
Among the increases in fruits and vegetables, the following stand out: orange with an annual increase of 42.81%; potatoes and other tubers, 36.92%; cucumber, 28.67%; grapefruit, 25.76%; green beans, 20.47%; watermelon, 22.60%; peach, 16.49%; nopales, 12.53%; bananas 13.20%; and lettuce and cabbage, 14.34%.
For their part, livestock products registered an annual increase of 13.79%, among which are: eggs with a rise of 26.46%; pork, 14.63%; fish, 13.42%; chicken, 12.28%; beef visors, 12.44%; and beef, 10.35%.
Regarding the services segment, these reported an annual increase of 5.35%, their second highest increase since August 2003 when they reached 5.45%. Within it, package tourist services stand out, which reported an increase of 16.60%, while air transport increased 12.25%.
Likewise, lunch boxes, inns, torterias and taquerias observed an increase of 12.62%, while restaurant services and the like increased 11.05% in November compared to the same period of the previous year.
In the group of energy products and services, domestic natural gas stands out with an annual increase of 14.72%; electricity, 7.09%; and regular and premium gasoline with increases of 8.43% and 8.25%, respectively.
