Despite drawing a goal in their visit to the Xolos de Tijuana, the UANL Tigres remained in first place in the Clausura 2023 tournament, after three days have been played.
A contingent of various teams are one point behind Diego Cocca’s charges, led by Pachuca, who have a better goal difference than Rayados, Pumas and fifth-placed Santos Laguna.
At the bottom of the classification is Mazatlán, which is the only team that has not scored points, although it has a game pending.
Funes Mori, intractable
The Rayados attacker, Rogelio Funes Mori, is undoubtedly the figure of the day, as the “Mellizo” scored all three goals for his team in the 3-1 victory over Atlético de San Luis.
He appeared at minute 2 to beat Marcelo Barovero with a right-footed shot inside the area and open the scoring. At 17′, Jesús Gallardo gave him a great cross and the striker only had to push the ball to score the second goal against a goalless goalkeeper.
The third fell to 67′ after heading off a ball that had hit the crossbar after Rodrigo Aguirre’s shot.
With his “hat trick”, Funes Mori reached four goals and placed himself at the top of the scorers’ table.
Pumas attacker Juan Ignacio Dinenno also stood out on offense, who scored two goals in the felines’ 4-1 win over León in the Olímpico Universitario.
Los Gallos continue at the bottom of the quotient table, adding just 77 points in 88 games played. In penultimate place are the Xolos nine points up, while Mazatlán FC is in 16th place with 95 units.
America is still on top with 172 points, while Santos is seventh with 134.
