Mazatlán, Sin.- With his grandmother’s recipe, Antonio Ramírez Lizárraga prepares tamales every Sunday to sell them in the Artisan Gastronomic Market ” La Noria, Mi Pueblo Querido “.

Don Antonio begins preparing the tamales on Saturday afternoon, so that they are ready, and on Sunday he gets up at 4 in the morning to cook them and start selling them at 9 in the morning.

“Every Sunday I make 40 to 50 tamales, but this Sunday, as the fourth Tamal Fair was held , prepared 200 and on this occasion I did need the help of a person , but I only do everything to put the dough on the sheet. “, said.

The fourth Tamal Fair is inaugurated

The Secretary of Economic Development, Tourism and Fisheries of Mazatlán, Ricardo Velarde Cárdenas , inaugurated this Sunday the fourth Tamal Fair in the community of La Noria , where he highlighted the importance of tourism for the rural area.

“La Noria has been an example in the creation of tourist circuits in rural tourism, because the committee has organized itself to create different events throughout the year, including this fourth Tamal Fair, which has had exponential growth , since they began with the first edition selling 1,500 tamales and now they are going for more than 10,000 ,” he said.

He indicated that events like this come to strengthen the tourism that comes to Mazatlan , but also has a large influx of Mazatlecos , who today already go out on weekends to enjoy their rural area .

“In 2022 La Noria had an increase of between 50 and 60 percent in the number of visits, which generates a similar expectation for this 2023, because without a doubt when the community is organized they can generate this type of event and we are very happy to continue working hand in hand with them, because we want to replicate this in the other communities , ”he said.

Within the framework of the event , the president of the Committee of La Noria, my Dear Town, Marisol Lizárraga, asked the undersecretary of tourism, Moises Ríos , to take La Noria into account as a Stately Town, since he assured that it already has all the requirements .
