The demolition of the building that used to be the Juárez prison begins

MAZATLÁN._The old building known as the Juárez prison began to be demolished.

The fences of this complex, which first housed the Mazatlán prison and then the Municipal Public Security Secretariat, located in the Benito Juárez neighborhood, began to be demolished with heavy machinery.

This building functioned for many years as the Municipal Public Security Secretariat, even inside there is a part that in recent administrations was rehabilitated for the police area and is in good condition.

According to employees, the demolition work has been going on for several days.

Tenants of the Miguel Hidalgo Market had requested that this building be given so that the Carmen Serdán Kindergarten would function there and the kindergarten building be enabled for parking for merchants and market customers.

Mayor Édgar González Zataráin has reported that he has a plan to convert that place into a Community Center, where it will house municipal offices and the first stage is already underway.
