The Attorney General’s Office Sinaloa received two complaints against a priest from the Diocese of Culiacán for the crimes of harassment and sexual violence, confirmed Prosecutor Sara Bruna Quiñonez Estrada.

The complaints were presented by the Diocese of Culiacán itself and by an individual, in which he is accused of crimes of a sexual nature that the priest would have committed against parishioners.

“The Diocese filed a complaint of facts, we are beginning the investigation of the complaint filed by the legal representative of the Diocese, a complaint was also received in a personal capacity, we are now integrating,” said Quiñonez Estrada.

He pointed out that the religious organization did not detail the profile of the victim or victims of the denounced priest.

“The Diocese does not tell us names, it only makes us aware of the facts, of rumors that have appeared in the media and the complaint is against a particular person,” he mentioned.

Last week on social networks, on the occasion of International Women’s Day, a series of publications began accusing the priest in question of harassing young people close to the Catholic Church in Culiacán.

This Tuesday, the spokesman for the Diocese of Culiacán, Father Esteban Robles, stated at a press conference that the organization was dealing with accusations of sexual harassment.

The Attorney General explained that in addition to the complaint filed, it is presumed that there are more victims, for which she urged survivors of acts of sexual harassment to formally denounce their cases.

“There is talk that there may be more victims,” explained the Prosecutor.
