The Governor of Sinaloa Rubén Rocha Moya, announced during his weekly conference that various strategies are being analyzed in coordination with the Federation of Dough and Tortilla Industrialists, headed by Sinaloa by Rafael Uriarte Quiroz, with the aim of protecting the economy of Sinaloan families and avoiding the increase in the price of tortillas in the region.
The Secretary General of the Government, Enrique Inzunza Cázarez, explained that similar measures were taken last year to stabilize the price of a kilo of tortilla at 23 pesos, but this year, due to global inflationary factors, the price of the necessary inputs for production has increased, which has affected retail prices.
In this sense, a meeting will be held with the dough and tortilla industrialists this week, in which the Secretary of Economy will participate, to seek alternatives that allow the price of a kilo of tortilla to be kept at 25 pesos and generate conditions that benefit the most vulnerable sectors of society.
Among the strategies being considered is the possibility of generating nixtamalization processes in the state and establishing a new flour processing plant in the state. The Secretary General recognized the willingness of the business group to reach agreements that benefit society.
