On August 3, 2021, the community of Corerepe, Guasave, was shocked by the feminicide of Rosa Isabel “L”. After an intense investigation, it was possible to obtain evidence against her brother-in-law, Job Dionicio “A”, who was accused of the crime and arrested on August 6 of that same year.
The case went to court and after an abbreviated procedure hearing on March 13, 2023, the judge in the case handed down a conviction against Job Dionicio “A”.
The defendant received a prison sentence of 30 years, as well as the payment of 717,000 pesos for comprehensive reparation.
The feminicide of Rosa Isabel “L” was classified as aggravated by kinship by affinity, which further aggravated the situation.
The crime left a deep mark on the community and on the victim’s family, who have closely followed the judicial process.
The sentence handed down against Job Dionicio “A” is an important step in the fight against gender violence in México. Society hopes that cases like this do not go unpunished and that work continues to prevent violence against women in the country.
