‘OMG!’ Foreign tourism grows in Mazatlán

Mazatlán. – Foreign tourism increased around 62 percent in January and February of this year compared to the same period in 2022, which speaks of the confidence in wanting to visit Mazatlán, reported the Secretary of Tourism, Estrella Palacios Domínguez.

He mentioned that this increase represents approximately 89,900 more tourists, mainly from the United States and Canada, countries with which connectivity to “the Pearl of the Pacific” is maintained.

“Regarding the evolution of international air passenger traffic from January and February 2023 against 2022, it shows an increase of 62.2 percent, representing 89,900 more foreign tourists,” he declared.

Palacios Domínguez pointed out that the mission of this 2023 for the Sectur will be to increase and improve the connectivity of the routes, both national and international, towards the three airports that it has Sinaloa in Los Mochis, Culiacan and Mazatlán.

“We are doing very well, there is an increase in the number of foreign tourists in Mazatlán, which is important due to the economic benefit that is going to take place,” he said.

The cities with which Mazatlán maintains a commercial relationship in its air connectivity are from the United States: Houston, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, Phoenix and Dallas; while, with Canada, they maintain a relationship with Vancouver, Edmonton, Regina, Winnipeg and Montreal.

The state official added that, according to the meetings of the Advisory Council, in which hoteliers, tourism promoters and authorities are present, it was agreed to globalize the image of Sinaloa towards the rest of México and other countries and work hand in hand with the airlines to continue with this offer.

The goal, he said, is to exceed the number of visitors obtained in 2022 and reach more than 5 million tourists to Sinaloa.
