Mazatlán. – June is known as Pride Month, and it is precisely this time that is the favorite time for the LGBTTTIQ+ community to visit some destinations, either to attend the marches or simply to have a good time, look and feel proud.

And it is that on June 28 the International Gay Pride Day is celebrated, which tries to give visibility to the identities and sexual orientations oppressed over time and that demands equality with respect to the rest of society.

Given this, the undersecretary of Promotion, Meetings Industry and Tourism Operations, Ricardo Velarde Cárdenas, stated that this tourism has grown throughout the state and it is important to maintain it.

He indicated that they have already had an approach with different LGBTTTIQ+ associations at the national and international level to attract more tourism and activities to the port, and although nothing has been agreed yet, important talks have been held.

“Talks have been held with different Associations that are interested in bringing various events to the community, although nothing has been finalized yet. At the secretariat we are always open to continue promoting all the festivals that can place the destination in good places”, said Velarde Cárdenas.

He commented that one of the events that has grown year after year is the one that takes place in the nightclub known as Privé.

The gay march is coming

In Mazatlán the collective of Sinaloa Diverso has already announced its 14th Gay Pride and Sexual Diversity March, which will take place on Saturday June 17 along the entire boardwalk, with the presence of 14 or 15 floats and awaits a great acceptance that accumulates around 800 participants.

Do you know LGBT tourism?

Homosexual or “gay-friendly” tourism is defined as a tourist modality aimed at the community where lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transsexuals participate; and it is especially popular in Europe, Latin America and some North American countries.

The countries that over time have managed to give the place they deserve to the people of the community and that are highly visited are Germany, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, the United States, France, Grace, Israel, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom Kingdom and Spain.

In México, this type of tourism has been growing slowly, but destinations like Puerto Vallarta have opened the door for the LGBTTTIQ+ community to feel safe and comfortable on vacation, and Mazatlán does not want to be left behind.
