CULIACÁN._ The extraordinary program for the acquisition of white corn, implemented by Segalmex in Sinaloa has already closed and the purchase goal has been exceeded, reported the head of the federal agency, Leonel Cota Montaño.

This closed on August 31 and with it they sought to acquire one million tons from small Sinaloan producers at the guaranteed price of 6,965 pesos, which upset farmers.

At the end of this program, the federal government acquired one million 2 thousand 10 tons, benefiting 11 thousand 297 producers.

With these figures, an economic spill of 6 thousand 979 million pesos was materialized.

Cota Montaño recalled that at the end of this program the normal acquisition of corn from small producers continues.

In order to safeguard the purchased grains while they are sent to the rest of the country, Segalmex maintains 63 rented warehouses in Sinaloa.
