Chihuahua.- The Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) has revealed a plan for significant discounts on electricity bills that will go into action starting in May 2024, providing relief to users in twenty states in México. According to José Martín Mendoza Hernández, general director of basic supply at the CFE, there is the possibility that more states will join this initiative in the future.
This special discount on the electricity bill is based on the high temperatures experienced during the summer months, especially in certain states. The electricity rate will be adjusted according to the climatic conditions of each region during this time of year.
The twenty states initially benefiting include Baja California, Campeche, Chiapas, Chihuahua, Coahuila, Colima, Guerrero, Hidalgo, Michoacán, Morelos, Nayarit, Nuevo León, Oaxaca, San Luis Potosí, Sinaloa, Sonora, Tabasco and Tamaulipas.
Chihuahua, complying with the requirement of temperatures above 30°C, will see more than 120 thousand homes benefited with a decrease in the Public Lighting Right Tax (DAP). However, to take advantage of this benefit, homes must meet specific conditions: have exclusively domestic energy services and not considered high consumption, maintain energy consumption within the limits established by the A1 rates for domestic service, be individually connected , and meet the housing criteria defined by the CFE in Chihuahua.
