The governor of Durango, Esteban Villegas Villarreal, requested greater security in the entity on the occasion of Holy Week and the total solar eclipse on April 8.

He commented that there is no precedent for how many people will arrive due to the solar eclipse but that they expect a large influx of visitors.

“Let’s hope nothing happens during these holidays,” he said.

He affirmed that the Durango entity is safe for visitors and locals who They will be in the different places and locations established to appreciate the Total Solar Eclipse.

He added that both during the Easter season and on April 8, the day of the eclipse, all roads are open and monitored.

He announced that the State Government is preparing to have the two helicopters 100 percent ready: one in Laguna and the other in Durango.

He said that among the security corporations, in coordination with the municipal governments, they are alert and that it will be a great operation because it is something that had not been experienced in Durango so there is extensive coordination.

He shared that there are already many people who have their trip ready for the entity, as is the case of a tour operator that brings more than 100 people to a town in the mountains, so the path, the issue of water and food, is already being reviewed. for a safe stay.

He concluded that many people are expected, some with a scheduled trip and others who will arrive alone in their vehicle, the roads may be saturated, so transportation is being provided from the capital to different points.
