Mazatlán.- Are you going to the beach in Mazatlán? Don’t make it dirty, pick up your trash before leaving, that is the call made by the Beach Operator and the Municipal Ecology Directorate.

“Let us share the beaches and other natural resources taking into account their conservation and preservation, so that our Mazatlán citizens become eyes and spokespersons for the possible environmental damage that visitors could cause,” says the Ecology Directorate.

Caring for the environment, the organization highlights, allows the preservation of biodiversity, ecological balance and public health.

Mazatlán Beach Operator and Administrator also called on all beach visitors to be responsible with their leisure activities, respecting the habitat, not throwing waste, depositing garbage in containers, or taking it with them.

During the vacation period, both agencies will be conducting tours of the beach area, raising awareness among visitors about the importance of preserving the area clean.

They will have information modules where they will be providing ecological bags, and they will carry out cleaning days with the aim of preventing garbage from being thrown on the beach in Mazatlán.

Mazatlán values the importance of not littering on the beach

Caring for oceans, rivers or seas allows the preservation of millions of plants and animals that live there, many of them in danger of extinction.

The protection of human health also depends on it, since clean water, fresh air, and healthy foods are needed, many of which are extracted from these bodies of water.

Easter 2023: not so good for the ecology

The Easter 2023 holiday period was not so good in terms of garbage, from April 3 to 9, an additional 1,357 tons were collected. Which represented an increase of 32 percent, according to the municipality’s Public Services.

Every day around 600 tons were collected daily, so in one week there were 4,200 tons.

This qualified Mazatlán as one of the beach destinations that accumulated the most garbage. In Acapulco, 650 tons of garbage left by tourists were collected during the first week of the 2023 Easter holidays.
