México City.- After a search carried out in Sinaloa elements of the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) secured 100 tons of various substances for the production of synthetic drugs.
The agents requested a search warrant that was granted by the District Judge assigned to the Criminal Justice Center in the entity, for the crime against health, in its form of possession of chemical precursors, and derived from a complaint filed by elements of the Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena), it was reported.
The proceedings were reported at a property on Bulevar Juan M. Zambada, Colonia Infonavit Las Flores, in Culiacán.
At the scene, the ministers seized three thousand 275 kilos of calcium chloride, three thousand 75 kilos of sodium hydroxide, one thousand 960 kilos of sodium cyanide, 525 kilos of tartaric acid, 700 kilos of lead acetate, 53 thousand 394 liters 810 ml of hydrochloric acid, 15 thousand 604 liters 820 ml of benzyl alcohol.
Also, 10 thousand 259 liters 890 ml of n-methylformamide, seven thousand 769 liters 690 ml of benzyl chloride, six thousand 69 liters 770 ml of acetone, one thousand 719 liters 870 ml of benzyl cyanide, 549 liters 970 ml of nitromethane, 199 liters 940 ml of methyl ethyl ketone, 149 liters 800 ml of toluene; In addition, a forklift vehicle, two condensers and two containers.
The insured remained at the disposal of the MPF, who initiated the investigation file against the person or persons responsible for the aforementioned crime, the FGR reported.
Sinaloa has become the epicenter of the distribution of synthetic drugs such as methamphetamine and fentanyl.
The entity has registered an increase in crime rates, according to ministerial and military records.
Between 2022 and 2023, the discovery of laboratories for the production of synthetic drugs shot up 91 percent; intentional homicides, 13 percent, and drug dealing, 82 percent, according to figures from the National Public Security System (SNSP).
