There is a lack of more vision from the authorities to promote LGBT tourism

Mazatlán.- In Mazatlán, more actions are required to promote and attract new tourist flows, including that of the LGTB community, since, despite the constant arrival of national and international tourists, this sector is not being used significantly to generate economic spill.

Tulio Martínez, president of Sinaloa Diverse, he highlighted that Mazatlán has established itself as a tourist destination of great importance in México, but actions are not yet being implemented to promote LGBT tourism.

He mentioned that this sector can contribute significantly to the local economy, as it tends to spend generously in the places it visits.

«I believe that the government has not had an adequate vision of the gay community in its tourism promotion strategies to attract it to Mazatlán. We are an important tourism segment that deserves attention. “Most of us don’t have the same financial responsibilities as other people, such as children or spending on school supplies and uniforms,” she said.

Much to do in LGBT tourism

Martínez pointed out that, although progress has been made in Mazatlán in some aspects related to the LGBT community, there is still much to do in the tourism field.

LGBT tourism

He exemplified with other tourist destinations in México that have opted for this type of tourism, including the offer of hotels specifically aimed at the LGTB community.
