Mazatlán._ A total of 27 dogs that were in complete abandonment, neglect, malnutrition and animal cruelty, were rescued in a home in the Colonia Centro of Mazatlán.

In a statement, the Municipal Government, through the Directorate of Ecology and Environment, reported this historic rescue of 27 dogs.

According to the statement, this complaint had been filed years ago by some citizens, however, no administration had acted. Giving value to animal well-being and after an arduous legal process, personnel from the Directorate of Ecology and Environment, together with the Canine Unit, and Civil Protection secured these animals, which were located in a home in the Colonia Centro of Mazatlán.

The situation of the 27 dogs is deplorable, since they were without food, without medical treatments, or basic care, and in a completely contaminated environment.

In this regard, the Director of Ecology, Eunice Murúa Figueroa, stated that, although the rescue was a resounding success, due to all the work carried out and the efforts of the authorities, the situation is regrettable.

He thanked the support of the rescuers who joined in to make it possible and stated that the Municipal Government is acting with everything humanly possible for animal welfare.

Murúa Figueroa called on citizens to be aware and social and human responsible, not only through the complaint, but also through the accompaniment of the authorities to continue acting. In addition, he asked for support from Mazatlán families to adopt, since the City shelters are overcrowded.

“We call on us as citizens to be aware that animals are sentient beings that need the same care that any member of our family needs, that we be responsible reporters, that is, I report and see how we can support, this We would never have been able to secure these 27 dogs in critical conditions without the support of the independent rescuers who have supported us with temporary shelter for them,” he mentioned.

“As a Municipal Government headed by our Mayor Edgar González and through the Department of Ecology, we are acting every day and 24 hours a day and we are not going to stop until all these people who are committing crimes of abuse, abandonment, and animal cruelty, they end up in jail or end up having such heavy fines and never have animals again,” he concluded.
