MAZATLÁN._ Mazatlán does not suffer from a water shortage; the suspension of pumping in some areas of the city is due to ongoing works, said Jorge Guadalupe González Naranjo.
The general manager of the Municipal Board of Potable Water and Sewerage of Mazatlán also mentioned that there is no drought and that damage to electric motors is very common during this season.
“On the subject of water, fortunately we have said that there is no shortage of water, the shortages or low pressure that have existed are mostly due to repairs,” he said.
“More than drought problems we have had, for example, in foreign areas issues of engine failures due to electrical issues; It is very common that now, curiously, when the rainy seasons come, any wind, any issue affects the lines, and that causes the motors to be protected, or damaged, generating the failure and the momentary lack of water,” he added. .
Given the problem of water theft by citizens and complaints of lack of service at night in some neighborhoods of Mazatlán, González Naranjo expressed that work is already being done to detect people who enjoy the service without paying, while they also carry a project to avoid impacts at certain points.
“In fact, we are carrying out a sweep throughout the city to detect what is known as ‘clandestine’, which are users who have the service and are not registered with us, or those who for some reason have had it suspended and who currently enjoy the service. While in the other direction, we are working on a project throughout the city to sectorize the area and avoid damage when it comes to repairs,” he explained.
Regarding the current delinquents with Jumapam, the manager stressed that the department is working to ensure that citizens can catch up on their debts through new plans, which have yielded positive results so far.
“Fortunately with all the work that has been done offering tailored campaigns, we are doing well; We know that people’s debt for different reasons has been what has led them to owe the Board, so we also have a permanent campaign to make agreements tailored to them, as well as to analyze the issue of why they stopped paying at the time. pay. All this has helped us so that 20 percent of the population can now be said to be satisfied users. Today we have a gap of over 470 million; There are people who owe from one month, which is over 104 pesos, to people who owe millions, speaking of users in general, companies, people, etc.,” he declared.
Finally, on the topic of the Picachos Dam and how its capacity is maintained after last week’s rains, he mentioned that since the capacity of the dam is enormous, very heavy rains are needed for the flow to begin to fill, adding the data that today is above 50 percent.
