MAZATLÁN.- The president of the Mazatlán Local Livestock Association, José Antonio Lizárraga Rivera, reiterated the commitment of the region’s producers to offer a high-quality dairy product, since the most important dairy basin in the state produces disease-free milk.
This effort has been endorsed by the State Commission for Protection against Sanitary Risks, Coepriss, which carries out constant inspections to guarantee safety and quality milk.

Lizárraga Rivera stressed that, to date, numerous reviews have been carried out to detect the presence of diseases such as brucellosis and tuberculosis in the milk produced in the region.
“We have no problems, quality milk is being delivered, and the problems that existed when we first started were brucellosis and tuberculosis, but they have been eradicated now.”

He said that, in terms of production, 90 thousand liters of milk are currently produced per day.
Of this amount, 60 thousand liters are destined for cheese makers in the south of Sinaloa while the remaining 30 thousand liters are sent to pasteurizers.
In the Mazatlán area, Sello Rojo receives around 10 thousand liters daily, while the Lala company acquires approximately 20 thousand liters.
Lizárraga Rivera also addressed the issue of the price of milk, pointing out that currently the price per liter is 11 pesos to producers in Mazatlán.
However, given the continued increase in the cost of inputs, the president of the Local Livestock Association indicated that they will insist on the need for an increase in the purchase price of milk, in order to ensure the economic sustainability of producers.
