UAS Promotes Teacher Training with New Workshops in Active Methodologies and Educational Technologies

-CIDE leads teacher training at UAS to strengthen the 2022 Educational Model throughout the university-

Culiacan, Sinaloa.- With the purpose of strengthening the pedagogical and technological skills of its teaching staff, the Autonomous University of Sinaloa (UAS), through the Center for Innovation and Educational Development (CIDE), has started the Conference Teacher Training at UAS and Discipline. Within this framework, the course “Active Methodologies for University Teaching” is taught, designed to align teaching with the foundations of the New UAS 2022 Educational Model.

Dr. Martín Pastor Angulo, coordinator of CIDE and advisor of the Virtual University project, stressed that this initiative responds to the need to modernize and adapt teaching strategies to current demands. The workshops, which have already been successfully carried out in the southern and northern regional units, will reach the Central zone next week, impacting an increasing number of teachers.

“These courses address key topics such as problem-based learning and the theory and practice of meaningful learning, providing teachers with practical tools that they can integrate into their daily teaching,” explained Pastor Angulo. He also mentioned that CIDE is also offering a virtual course entitled “Artificial Intelligence Tools Applied to Teaching,” which seeks to train teachers in the use of artificial intelligence in educational environments.

To date, around 700 teachers have participated in these teacher training at UAS reflecting a high level of commitment to their professional development and to the educational quality of the UAS. The objective, according to Pastor Angulo, is for all the university’s professors to receive this training, thus ensuring that the New Educational Model has a real and lasting impact in the classrooms.

For her part, teacher Sandra Casillas Cárdenas, coordinator of the teacher training in UAS CIDE’s director, stressed that the workshops were designed in direct response to the needs expressed by the teachers themselves. “This ensures that the trainings are not only relevant, but also effective in addressing the specific concerns and challenges they face in their daily work,” she said.

The UAS continues to invest in the ongoing training of its academic staff, understanding that this is the key to offering quality education and adequately responding to the demands of society. With these actions, the university reaffirms its commitment to innovation and educational excellence.
