* The process can take up to a year
* Abuses of authority continue to be the most frequent complaints
More than 150 municipal police officers are in the process of investigation, since applying a sanction does not depend on the Ministry of Public Security, but on the Internal Affairs Unit.
“The sanction does not depend directly on the Ministry of Public Security, I have also always mentioned it, due process must be followed, some elements that must be complied with for the sanction must be presumed innocent, but there are sanctions ”, Mazatlán Public Security Secretary Jaime Othoniel Barrón Valdez assured.
The official mentioned that the most frequent complaints continue to be abuses of authority and violations of human rights.
For his part, Mayor Edgar González added that an investigation process can take up to a year, since this has to be done with great care because sometimes it can be counterproductive.
“There are many cases in the legal of bad procedures, of people who ran and that became a demand that now has to be paid in a million, two or three million pesos, so you don’t have to do that either because the only thing What you are doing is strengthening disorder and impunity ”, explained the mayor.
