Eleven arrested and 11 weapons seized in Culiacán

The Secretariat of Public Security of Sinaloa reported that, following the events that occurred on Thursday afternoon at the southern exit of Culiacán on the México 15 highway, where elements of the Mexican Army were attacked, 11 civilians were arrested.

Besides, 11 firearms and 3 vehicles were seized which were made available to the corresponding authorities.

The health status of the injured Mexican Army member is reported as stable at this time.

Besides, During patrols and ground reconnaissance, elements of the Mexican Army located a home in the municipality of Eldorado Three vehicles, including an armored one, were seized at the scene.

A report was received alerting about the movement of several vehicles with alleged armed civilians along the Sanalona highway. Staff from all three levels of government responded immediately and verified that the report was false.

Patriotic celebrations suspended

The governor of Sinaloa Rubén Rocha Moya, announced this Thursday that the celebrations of September 15 in Culiacán will be suspended, limiting them to a formal event. This decision responds to the recent violent events in Culiacán, Elota, Cosalá and San Ignacio.

In recent days, criminal groups have blocked roads and set fire to trucks, trailers and vehicles in the vicinity of Culiacán.

“We have decided that the celebration of the ‘Grito’ on September 15 will be suspended. There will be no celebration, public or private (…) The protocol will basically be carried out here at the Government Palace with the presence of the escort, the war band and my cabinet. Exclusively, there are no guests. But we will carry out the protocol as a way of honoring the Homeland and the heroes who gave us freedom,” the governor commented on his official X account (formerly Twitter).
