OAXACA. Federal Chief Executive Andrés Manuel López Obrador, accompanied by President-elect Claudia Sheinbaum, during his last tour of the state of Oaxaca, inaugurated the Benito Juárez artisanal trail, which recreates the route of the Benemérito de las Américas, where he stressed that he was delivering good accounts “and no one should say that he did badly financially.”
At the inauguration of the 43-kilometer Benito Juárez artisanal road that runs from Guelatao de Juárez to Tlalixtac de Cabrera, the president said that this road, which is supposedly the route from Juárez to the state capital in its infancy, as well as the artisanal roads built during this six-year term, are the face and indelible mark of a government that obeyed the popular mandate and returned to the people their leading role in public affairs.
At the ceremony, it was explained that the federal government built 204 roads that transformed the geography of the state and the daily lives of people by reducing travel time and facilitating access to essential services; 201 municipalities, 523 localities and more than 550 thousand inhabitants benefited from this.
López Obrador said that during his administration, work was done to provide a development model and a different policy to strengthen democracy in México and restore the power of the people.
“The differences that some people have with us are fundamentally for political or ideological reasons, because they have a very conservative way of thinking, but they cannot say that the economy is very bad, that salaries are very low and have increased, that there is no work,” he explained.
On the contrary, López Obrador said that salaries have increased, and he stressed that México is the second country with the lowest unemployment rate in the world and that for the first time in 50 years the peso will not be devalued at the end of his term.
He also explained that Oaxaca is a national and world example for its culture, since there is no other country that maintains its traditions, customs, languages and social organization. “Mexican humanism has two pillars, one of them being the cultural greatness of the country, something that makes us unique and the best, that is why Oaxaca is the main cultural sanctuary of México.”
For her part, the president-elect reiterated her commitment to continue promoting the transformation of Oaxaca. “Giving continuity means continuing with the already established welfare programs, but also with artisanal paths to agencies, with support for women aged 60 to 64 -whose work in society needs to be recognized- the universality of the Benito Juárez scholarship and bringing health to all.”
At a ceremony in the birthplace of Benito Juárez García, Governor Salomón Jara Cruz led the recognition of the work of the President of the Republic, who made it possible for indigenous peoples and communities to be recognized as subjects of public law with legal personality and their own assets.
