MAZATLÁN.- More than a month after the implementation of new circulation routes for foreign tourist transportation in Mazatlán, significant disorder continues to be observed in certain areas, especially in the areas where “charter” trucks operate to pick up and drop off tourists.
José Ramón Manguart Sánchez, president of the Tres Islas Hotels and Motels Association, highlighted that work meetings continue with the Department of Roads and Transportation, as well as with the Secretariat of Public Security and Municipal Transit.
The purpose of these meetings is to inform transport operators about access and exit routes, depending on the location of the hotels where tourists are staying.
“It is a reordering, not an alteration. We have established five routes: Cerritos, Sábalo, Gaviotas, Malecón one, Malecón two and the downtown area, depending on the hotel you are going to,” he explained.
Manguart Sánchez stressed that one of the main complaints of both tourists and locals is the saturation of roads, which led the authorities to implement these measures.
New rules for ‘Charterers’
Improving transport organization not only aims to facilitate the movement of tourists, but also to contribute to the image of the destination and reduce the negative impact of traffic chaos on the overall experience of visitors.
Despite the challenges, the businessman said that, so far, no transport company has expressed any intention to stop operating in the port as a result of the new reorganization.
