MAZATLÁN.- “Long live Hidalgo! Long live the heroes who gave us our country and freedom! Long live Morelos! Long live Josefa Ortiz de Domínguez!… Long live México!” Thus, Mayor Édgar González Zatarain gave the last Cry of Independence, 214 years after Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla.
The last cry, before his administration ends, made people arrive early at the Plazuela República, in a safe and calm ceremony, the only one that was done in Sinaloa who lives in an insecure environment.

Hundreds of people took advantage of the opportunity to experience this Mexican tradition, commemorating more than 200 years since Miguel Hidalgo started a war in search of independence as a country.
From the main balcony of the Government Palace, Mayor Edgar Augusto González Zataráin, made special recognition to the heroes who gave freedom to Mexicans such as Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla, José María Morelos y Pavón, Vicente GuerreroJosefa Ortiz de Domínguez and Ignacio Allende.
Thousands of families gathered at the iconic place in Mazatlán for these patriotic events: the Plazuela República, and made the streets vibrate with cries of ¡Viva México! ¡Viva Mazatlán! and then sang the notes of the Mexican National Anthem.
With this, the Plazuela República was filled with color with the patriotic celebrations, which were adorned by the Folkloric Ballet of the Mazatlán Institute of Culture, to later delight with Horacio Palencia and the stellar Jorge Medina.
Their most epic songs were sung by everyone, remembering an old love, or a conquest for the person sitting next to them, the romantic side of those present made the Plazuela República celebrate the most patriotic night in México.

The most emblematic aspect was the color and tradition that the popular festival displayed. The gastronomic display included dishes such as pozole, tamales and gorditas that Mazatlán residents were able to enjoy for free.
All you had to do was stand in line for a ticket and receive free food.
In addition, for the entertainment of the little ones, fair games were installed to create a 100 percent Mexican and happy atmosphere.
The event was closed by fireworks, a spectacle that impressed the attendees, causing even those in the surrounding streets to look up to the sky to appreciate the colors.
