As part of the implementation of the Emergency Assistance Plan for Society (Plan GN-A), after the passage of Hurricane John, the National Guard maintains in Acapulco, Guerrero as priority actions the rescue of people who remain in flooded homes, care in temporary shelters, security service in commercial areas and clearing of roads.
After the passage of Hurricane John, the National Guard, in coordination with personnel from the Mexican Army and authorities from the three levels of government, organized brigades that toured more than 30 neighborhoods in the port of Guerrero, in order to evacuate those people who remain in flooded homes as a result of heavy rains.
Aboard Zodiac-type boats and in official vehicles, personnel transfer those affected to temporary shelters set up in the entity, where they are provided with food, mats and blankets.
Likewise, the national guards maintain a surveillance scheme in the main shopping plazas and markets to prevent possible looting or acts of vandalism; Supported by the institution’s trucks, people are transported while the public transportation service is restored.
The members of the corporation also carry out traffic detours, clearing roads and flagging at different points on the Acapulco-Zihuatanejo highway, as well as on the Acapulco-Chilpancingo highway, where the momentary interruption of roads is recorded as a result of landslides or the falling trees.
Along with these actions in Guerrero the National Guard maintains Plan GN-A active in municipalities of entities such as Michoacán, Jalisco, Colima and Oaxaca, to help the population affected by Hurricane John.
