Mazatlán.- This weekend, the Mazatlán Taekwondo Team shone in the G3 National Championship, held in Ciudad Victoria, Tamaulipas, and from which they won three medals in different categories.
More than a thousand competitors from 25 states of the country participated in the championship.

The medals went to Nery Frías Mozo, in Youth Poomsae, who won a Silver; Bronze for Jesús Alfonso Domínguez Castillo, in Youth Poomsae and, Bronze for Carmen Beatriz Monterola Grajeda, in Youth 42 kilogram combat.
Paula Nicole Acosta Valadez, who also participated, reached fifth place in Youth Poomsae.
This tournament awarded 30 points to the national ranking, which allowed Nery Frías to obtain his call to the Mexican Grand Slam, the event that will bring together the best 10 competitors in each category.
“Last year Mazatlán had only one participant in this event, but this year we hope that three or four of our representatives will join the Grand Slam,” commented Juan Manuel Ortega, president of the Municipal Taekwondo Committee.
The Grand Slam of México will take place in Puebla, from November 28 to December 1, marking the closing of the foreign competitions in 2024 for Mazatlán taekwondo players.
Looking ahead to 2025, the Mazatlán National Team has already defined its representation for the state of the Conade National Games, and will continue with physical and nutritional evaluations and periodic concentrations to arrive in its best shape for the competition in Culiacán.
Additionally, as part of their preparation, those selected will participate in the Southern Zone Tournament of the State Taekwondo Association, on November 16 at the Martiniano Carvajal Park, where more than 100 athletes from Mazatlán, Cosalá and La Cruz will compete.
