Cruises boost sales by 40% at Sánchez Taboada in Mazatlán

The arrival of two cruise ships in Mazatlán this Monday generated a notable increase in sales of souvenirs and crafts at the Sánchez Taboada roundabout, one of the most popular areas of Paseo Olas Altas.

Significant increase in sales

According to local merchants, sales of souvenirs such as mugs, hats, keychains and magnets grew by 40% thanks to the flow of cruise passengers who disembarked at the port. Ramón, one of the area’s vendors, highlighted that each visitor purchases between 10 and 15 items, directly benefiting local businesses.

“Having these tourists arrive benefits us a lot because they are the ones who buy,” said the merchant.

Tourists’ favorite souvenirs

The products most sought after by tourists are mugs, hats and key chains, ideal as souvenirs to take home or give as gifts. “I say they buy them to give as gifts in their homeland,” commented another merchant.

Expectations for the holiday period

Despite the benefits that cruises provide, merchants eagerly await the holiday season, when the flow of tourists increases significantly. “We are not always going to depend on cruise ships. Of course we are glad that they arrive, but we also wait for tourists on vacation,” concluded one of the sellers.

The arrival of international tourists continues to be an important driver for the local economy in Mazatlán, demonstrating that the port continues to consolidate itself as a key tourist destination in México.
