Illegal Connections to the Hydrosanitary Network in Mazatlán: Jumapam Takes Measures and Launches Alert

Increase in Clandestine Connections in the Mazatlán Hydro-Sanitary Network

The Municipal Board of Drinking Water and Sewerage (Jumapam) of Mazatlán has detected an increase in illegal connections to the hydrosanitary network. These actions are carried out outside of authorized hours and without the corresponding payment, affecting public infrastructure and the city’s drinking water supply.

Complaint of Illegal Connection in Colonia Universo

Recently, a complaint was registered on Calle Arcoíris, Colonia Universo. A household discharge was observed carried out on a Sunday at 7:00 a.m. on a property that was still under construction and had not requested an official connection. Jumapam verified that there was no work order or payment associated with the address, confirming that it was a clandestine takeover.

Jumapam Immediate Actions

After detecting the illegal connection, Jumapam personnel proceeded to disconnect the water supply on the affected property. In addition, an investigation has been launched to identify and punish those responsible for these fraudulent activities, in order to prevent future incidents.

Legal Measures Against Irregular Infrastructures

The Commercial Management of Jumapam has announced that it will take legal action against the owner of the land where the illegal connection was made. These measures seek to repair damage caused to public infrastructure and deter other potential offenders from attempting to access the water supply irregularly.

Impact on Public Infrastructure

Unauthorized connections represent a significant risk to the hydrosanitary network, as they can cause overloads and failures in the distribution system. In addition, they generate economic losses for the entity in charge of managing drinking water in Mazatlán.

How to Report Fraudulent Activities in Jumapam

Jumapam calls on citizens to report any suspicious activity related to illegal connections or unauthorized services. Citizens can contact through the Aquatel line 073 or by calling 669 915 7000, extension 1016. Opening hours are Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm and Saturdays from 8:00 am to 12:00 noon.

Importance of Reporting Suspicious Activities

Reporting these fraudulent practices is essential to maintain the integrity of the hydrosanitary network and ensure that all users have fair and regulated access to the water supply. In addition, it contributes to the prevention of damage to public infrastructure and the strengthening of control measures by Jumapam.
