Prioritizing the care of the environment, the Faculty of Medicine delivers recyclable material to the University Welfare Unit

Mazatlán, Sinaloa.- After gathering a significant amount of recyclable material, the community of the Faculty of Medicine of the Autonomous University of Sinaloa (UAS) became true Culiacán Environmental Guardians by contributing PET bottles, plastic caps, cardboard and paper to the recycling campaign of the University Welfare Unit (UBU), “Donate a book and help the environment.”

The director of the Faculty, Dr. Luis Alberto González García, explained that, as health professionals, caring for the environment must be part of their academic and comprehensive training, since the health of the population is not only the internal part of each person, but also everything that surrounds them, which influences the health and well-being of each individual.

“We are actually one thing, if we alter what surrounds us, we are going to have alterations in our body and our health, hence there is now this impetus for the boys to recognize the importance of maintaining our entire environment in the best possible way.” way possible, in the healthiest way and that implies having this recycling culture,” he indicated.

This material was received by Dr. Sofía Angulo de Madueña, director of University Welfare, who, grateful for this contribution, highlighted that since the university signed a commitment to the Charter of Mother Earth, the community has focused on implementing various activities that contribute to the care of the environment.

“It is one of the few universities that carry out these environmental care activities with great responsibility, we have had a very good response with these programs, (…) ANUIES resumed the activities that we have been doing, made a note where the activity stands out of the University with these environmental care, where we have focused on applying everything that each SDG entails,” he noted.

With these actions, the commitment of the Autonomous University of Sinaloa for contributing to a more sustainable future through the education of thousands of young university students.
