They rescue two women and other bathers swept away by currents in Mazatlán

Mazatlán Aquatic Rescue elements carried out a series of rescues last Sunday, November 17, saving eight people in four different interventions due to the intense currents that affected the port’s beaches.

Among the notable cases are Brenda and Ema, two women aged 41 and 44 from Ciudad Juárez, who were swept away by the waves in Playa Norte and managed to be brought to safety thanks to the quick action of the lifeguards.

The Aquatic Rescue Squadron also rescued:

  • A 9-year-old boy and a girl, along with a 34-year-old adult, all from Zacatecas.
  • A young man and a young woman from Guadalajara.
  • A young woman from the state of Jalisco.

Commander Iván Alejandro Barrón Ureña, squad leader, reported that the rescued bathers presented exhaustion and nervous breakdowns, but none required hospitalization.

Recommendations for bathers

Given the adverse sea conditions, local authorities have called on visitors to respect the instructions of lifeguards and take extreme precautions when swimming in areas of strong waves.

Mazatlán continues to be a prominent tourist destination, but safety on its beaches is a priority. Protecting families and maintaining constant surveillance are key objectives to ensure a safe experience for tourists.
