The hotels in the Magic Town of Creel, located in the heart of the Sierra Tarahumara, report 85 percent occupation levels so far from the holiday period of Holy Week.
This was reported by the Ministry of Tourism, which said that some companies in the hotel sector have reported full, reflecting the high influx of visitors in the town.
Creel, located in the municipality of Bocoyna, is one of the most emblematic tourist destinations of Chihuahua, for the attractions around him, such as his forested landscapes, Lake Araareko and the Valley of the Monks.

In addition, it is one of the main stops of the Chihuahua to Pacific Railway (Chepe), which connects the state capital with the city of Los Mochis, Sinaloa.
In 2007 he was appointed Magic Town by the Ministry of Tourism of México.
From this point you can travel to other tourist interest sites in the Sierra Tarahumara, such as the cascade of Cusáraare, in Guachochi, and Divisadero Barrancas del Cobre, in the municipality of Urique.
To improve the experience of visitors, the state government made the resurfacing of Adolfo López Mateos street, where more than 1,700 cubic meters of stamped hydraulic concrete were placed and 80 double luminaires were installed.
The image of the main roads was also improved, 54 facades were rehabilitated on both sides of the Railroad Street, and as part of the Magical Color Routes program, more than 10 thousand square meters of paint were applied on 96 other facades.
During 2024, the town received 383 thousand 612 tourists per night in its almost 1,200 rooms available, which represented an economic spill of more than 810 million pesos.
Nominated for the best of México 2025
Currently, Creel is nominated as “Best Magic Town for a Drain between Mountains”, in the Contest of México 2025, which is organized by the specialized magazine México unknown.
