With the goals of highlighting national identity, promoting the consumption of Mexican coffee, and supporting producers, the Mexican Government’s Secretariat of Tourism and the Secretariat of Agriculture and Rural Development, as well as Concanaco Servytur, invite chambers, associations, service providers, the private sector in general, and the media to join the “Order a Mexican Coffee” campaign.

The Secretary of Tourism, Josefina Rodríguez Zamora, stated that the agency she leads will work closely and intensively with the Confederation of National Chambers of Commerce, Services, and Tourism on a national campaign promoting the change of name from “American coffee” to “Mexican coffee.”

This, she stated, is not limited to a name change, but also promotes and encourages the revaluation of the hard work of local producers and highlights the exceptional quality of coffee produced in México, which is recognized worldwide.

Among other objectives of this campaign, he highlighted the development of advertising strategies that highlight the quality and diversity of Mexican coffee, to promote its conscious and responsible consumption.

This initiative also seeks to facilitate marketing and dissemination platforms for Mexican coffee growers, as well as the organization of workshops and events that educate about the different varieties of Mexican coffee, preparation methods, and the cultural and economic benefits of consuming domestic products.

Rodríguez Zamora highlighted the importance of coffee in México, given that it has approximately 709,548 hectares dedicated to coffee cultivation in 14 states, primarily in Chiapas, Oaxaca, Puebla, and Veracruz.

“México is one of the largest coffee-producing countries after Brazil, Colombia, Indonesia, and Vietnam, among others, with a production volume ranging from 4 to 5 million bags per year,” he stated.
