Mazatlán.- With a call to consciousness, collaboration and education as fundamental pillars, the inspection and surveillance committee for shrimp protection was installed in Mazatlán, with the aim of strengthening actions against illegal fishing and promoting sustainable practices.
The Secretary of Fisheries and Aquaculture, Flor Emilia Guerra Mena, stressed that this year the State Government allocated 15 million pesos to strengthen surveillance work in Altamar, Bays and land operations. He affirmed that, beyond resources, the essential is the will and coordination between authorities and citizenship.
“There is no appeal that reaches if we do not bet on education and cultural change. The faculty is of Conapesca, but the responsibility belongs to everyone. We are proud of our fishing, and that pride implies commitment.”

For her part, the mayor of Mazatlán, Estrella Palacios Domínguez, stressed the support of the municipality to these tasks through the Ministry of Public Security and the Directorate of Economic Development, Tourism and Fisheries.

The event was attended by representatives of the three levels of government, fishing leaders and officials such as the Director of Public Security, Jaime Othoniel Barrón Valdez, the fishing director, Hugo Espinoza García, as well as cooperatives and shipowners, who endorsed their commitment to surveillance during the closure.
