Mazatlán._ With the desire to guarantee the sustainability of Camarón, the Secretariat of Fisheries and Aquaculture of Sinaloa Surveillance considers of great importance to avoid poaching during the ban of this product.
Flor Emilia Guerra Mena, head of this agency, stressed that the shrimp closure started promptly on April 6, this being a period that must be under observation to avoid its illegal fishing.
“It is the most laborious moment because all the programs are and we are with the inspection and surveillance. I think it is one of the most important right now for the issue of the irregular seasons that we have had especially in Camarón,” he said.
“What is most urgently Sinaloa”
The official stressed that although the ban did not have the best start, because some activity was shown, it was detected and proceeded to call attention to prevent it from being repeated.
“The authorities are with us and that is also good, because the one who fisher in a furtive way knows that they are not only fishermen benefited from the program, but the authorities in charge of monitoring and making the call for attention,” he said.
“You have to take care of the shrimp because it is an activity that remains and with that they support a family.”
With regard to the procedure against those who practice poaching, War Mena explained that depending on the severity of this, calls of attention are issued or the vessels and the illegal product are seized, as well as an administrative act is raised.
He explained that, although at the moment there has been no case deserving of imprisonment, the sanctions with legal reforms will be sought so that this type of illegal activity is not repeated.
“We are redoubled efforts and above all initiatives to modify the law so that it can be a punishment with more aggravating ones, because it is a minor penalized punishment and then pay bail and continue to do the damage,” he said.
“But where it hurts a lot to them is in the issue that the team is seized.”
On the other hand, Guerra Mena pointed out that neither in Mazatlán, Rosario or Escuinapa have had reports of poaching, despite the fact that problems with captures were made, since the development of the species has not been successfully given.
He said that it has been in municipalities such as Angostura and Ahome where the greatest number of activity cases has been reported regarding poaching.
“Angostura is the one that has brought us with turns, but also Ahome, which is not only one of the main shrimp producing municipalities, but is also the one that most violates the closing standard,” he said.
