*Palmeras talon, but the real problem is the lack of road culture in Mazatlán

Two palm trees talked on the Malecon again turned on the debate on road safety in Mazatlán, but not precisely because of what many believe.

The real problem is not palm trees … it is the lack of road culture.

During the last days, two motorcyclists lost their lives when they hit one of these plants.

The decision to cut them was taken by the Ministry of Public Security, but the question remains the same: was the fault of the palm tree or excessive speed?

The palm trees do not cross the street, do not invade lanes, do not make reckless maneuvers.

The palm trees have always been there. What has changed is the irresponsible way in which many motorcyclists and also car drivers circulate through the city’s roads.

And it’s not just a matter of giving courses or training. Although some take classes in the Department of Road Education, in road and transport, that is of little use if in practice the regulations are not respected, or worse, they are not enforced.

What are the police officers of the Municipal Transit if they do not slow those who travel at full speed? Why the seals, if instead of preventing accidents, they seem to be more focused on collecting or extorting?

The call is clear: Municipal transit must apply the law, not put it at the discretion or convenience.

A strategy that really puts order is urgent, to stop who leads without respect for one’s own life or that of others.

That motorcycles without plates, without a helmet, with modified escapes and speeding do not continue to pass in front of the agents as if nothing.

The solution was not to remove the palms: it was to prevent someone from reaching them due to lack of road authority.

The road culture is not sown with motorcycles at full speed … it is grown with laws applied firmly.
