And now, as of Monday, April 28, a total of 20 cases of needle sticks have been reported on the México City Metro; two tested positive for narcotics.
Interdisciplinary groups are analyzing international practices, and so far, 20 cases have been addressed, with two toxicology tests positive for narcotics.
The México City Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) reported that they are conducting regular updates on the investigations into the alleged needle sticks reported on the Metro.
The SSC secretary, Pablo Vázquez Camacho, emphasized that clear and responsible protocols are being followed to avoid generating panic among the population.
Interdisciplinary groups have been established to review similar experiences in countries such as Spain, the United Kingdom, and Australia, integrating international best practices in care and prevention.
To date, 20 cases have been treated under the established protocol, with 15 toxicology tests completed and two positive results for narcotics.
Vázquez Camacho explained that the victims receive immediate care within the Metro, where they are evaluated and, if necessary, transferred to a hospital specializing in toxicology.
He also emphasized that all reports are filed by the authorities to ensure a formal investigation.
Transportation and security personnel have been instructed to respond immediately to any reports.
