México/ THE JOURNEY.- Following the tension of the war conflict in the Middle East, so far México’s consulates in that area have facilitated the evacuation of 175 nationals “that have come out safely and are well found.”
This was announced this Sunday by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE), which reiterated its call to peace and to keep the diplomatic dialogue open to achieve a prompt resolution of the conflict – which worsened with the bombardment of Iranian nuclear facilities by the United States.
“SRE staff, through their embassies in Iran, Israel, Jordan, Egypt and Azerbaijan, remains on alert and continues to provide guidance, assistance and consular protection to Mexicans who are in the Middle East, particularly to facilitate their departure from the conflict zone.”
In a statement, he pointed out that even when Israel’s airspace is only partially open, México’s embassy in that country – one of the protagonists of the conflict – has facilitated the exit by land and maritime of 116 nationals towards Egypt, Jordan and Cyprus.
Also, the embassy in Iran – the counterpart in this war in that region – attended a second group of Mexicans “who successfully arrived in Azerbaiyan, where they were received by the staff of our embassy in that country.” In total, said the SRE, there are 30 people who have left Iran, “all of them are safe and well.”
Meanwhile, the Embassy in Jordan has supported the departure of 29 countrymen. “The airspace is open, but flights are still irregular with frequent cancellations.”
The Foreign Ministry thanked all the personnel who work in the embassies in that region in conflict, and highlighted “the commitment and professionalism with which they have attended Mexican people who have required their services, in compliance with the instructions of the president of México, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo.”
