Mazatlán.- North Beach fishermen, one of older and most representative fishing sites in Mazatlán, cross one of its worst stages.
What was previously synonymous with abundance today translates into uncertainty, with catches that hardly reach to support families that depend on the sea.

Carlos Torres, a lifetime fisherman, explained that in these weeks they barely get six or seven kilos of pig, an amount well below what is necessary.
The panorama is even more discouraging in species of greater value such as the Pargo, which practically does not appear in the networks.
As reported, the currents and heat of the water have played against.
“Sometimes the current brings fish and sometimes nothing, with the heat of the water, the species move away. We hope that in the cold time the drumstick, the curvine, the mountains and the pargo will approach. Last year there was nothing; hopefully now we have more luck,” he said.
The problem is not only the shortage in the sea, also security, because when intense rains or bad weather are presented, many prefer not to risk their lives and decide to stay on land, which further reduces their income.
The situation is reflected in sales: throughout the day on Tuesday, from five in the morning until noon, Carlos could barely sell two kilos of fish. A figure that shows the magnitude of the crisis.
To the uncertainty in the captures, the lack of institutional support is added. Fishermen point out that in critical seasons they do not receive sufficient support to sustain their activity or to guarantee the feeding of their families.
With an eye on the coming months, hope is in the arrival of the cold, which usually brings more diverse species and with better market value.
Meanwhile, in Playa Norte you live up to date, with the faith in which the sea gives enough again for the fishing tradition to continue beating in the heart of Mazatlán.
