According to the Stop Kidnapping association, so far in the president’s administration Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo 2,066 cases of kidnapping have been registered in México, 5.5 percent more than in the first 12 months of Andrés Manuel López Obrador’s administration.
In a statement, the organization takes into account the period from October 1, 2024, when Sheinbaum took office, to September 30, 2025. The 2,066 cases counted were to the detriment of 3,188 victims. In the first year of López Obrador’s six-year term, the organization registered 1,958 cases.

In September of this year, 136 kidnappings with 235 victims were recorded, although official figures only point to 78 victims.
Of the total crimes that occurred in September, three were against migrants, two of them in Chihuahua, with 23 victims, and one in Chiapas with 16 kidnapped people.
The organization’s report on mass kidnappings noted six cases with 35 victims.
By municipalities, the organization specified that between October 1, 2024 and September 30, 2025, those with the highest incidence of kidnappings were Culiacán, Sinaloa with 790 kidnappings; followed by Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua (96); Poza Rica, Veracruz (27); Tijuana, Baja California (26); and Mazatlán, Sinaloa (24).
The states where the most kidnappings were recorded were Sinaloa (855), Veracruz (130), Chihuahua (125), State of México (82) and Sonora (77).
Coahuila, Querétaro, Durango and Yucatán They were the only entities in which no kidnapping was recorded in the aforementioned period.
