Mazatlán.- Mazatlán is once again filled with diners. The port’s restaurants are beginning to leave the difficult months behind them and are registering a sustained recovery in their sales, especially on weekends, where levels already exceed 80 percent, reported Francis Cázarez Oliveros, president of the National Chamber of Commerce (Canaco) Mazatlán.
According to the leader, the establishments in the sector have had a notable rebound since the summer, driven by the flow of national tourists, the arrival of local visitors and the confidence of the Mazatlecos themselves to consume again in the port. Although they still do not reach the numbers prior to September 2024, the balance is positive.
“This year we are better and we hope to continue improving. We have not reached the levels we had before September 2024, but we are making a good recovery.”

The business representative highlighted that the sector has been able to adapt to current conditions, despite the perception of insecurity and the economic adjustments that affect consumers’ pockets.
However, the consistency in the quality of service and the diverse gastronomic offer have maintained the spirit of the sector.

During the weekends, the restaurants located on the boardwalk, the golden zone and the historic center are busy, while during the week activity remains stable.
Businessmen trust that the last quarter of the year will consolidate the recovery, especially with the arrival of events, festivities and the cruise season.
Cázarez Oliveros stressed that the dynamism is not replicated equally throughout the municipality.
In the rural area, commercial activity remains calm and only on Sundays is there an uptick in sales, when local families take the opportunity to go out to eat or socialize.
Still, the overall picture is encouraging. Mazatlán restaurateurs maintain the expectation of closing the year with more solid figures, trusting that tourism and local consumption will continue to raise spirits and sales in the port.
