Cabazan located in San Ignacio, Sinaloa it is a beautiful colonial architecture town rich in cultural history, worth visiting.
This is part of the Mission Route and has the only museum dedicated to the jaguar in México.
Cabazán, known in Nahuatl as “place of snakes”, is a small and picturesque town that was founded in the year of 1633 by Jesuit missionaries the old buildings built of adobe and tiles supported by thick wooden beams, with their large portals and patios, evoke times gone by.

In this warm place of clean and well laid out streets, is the jaguar museum the only one of its kind in México, which was created thanks to the impulse of the biologist and UAS professor, Yamel Rubio Rocha, in coordination of residents and some institutions, it was inaugurated in 2011, and has served to hold exhibitions and research related to this emblematic species of San Ignacio.

The inhabitants celebrate every September 8th, Virgin of the Holy Nativity with band music, the mañanitas are dedicated to her and then she is paraded through the streets of the town, her old temple built at the end of the 18th century, according to some historians, was the last to be built by the Jesuit missionaries as they passed through San Ignacio, from where the saying derives the meaning of the popular “the san ends here.”

The main economic activities of families are agriculture and livestock, although some women are dedicated to making bread, empanadas and choricos in an artisanal way.
It is also common that in the rainy season, mostly men, they enter the thickets of the mountains to collect the famous wild chili known as chiltepín which they sell, in sauce, fresh, dried or tanned.
Its inhabitants are calm and hospitable above all united, and open to receiving visitors any time of the year.

You can also find a unique place to have breakfast or lunch, typical dishes of the region, the La Misión de las Misiones restaurant, run by its owners Trini and Héctor, and where the food is accompanied by dairy products such as cheese, jocoque or cottage cheese, which are made in that same place.

Without a doubt, this municipality has a lot to offer, as it has a vast and varied cultural history that has been inherited for generations and that the residents have decided to preserve it, as well as the traditions.

Cabazan is located just over eight kilometers from the junction of the state highway with the community of El Carmen, which is located at kilometer 15.
