Mazatlán, Sin.— The commercial crisis in Mazatlán It has already left a strong balance for the local economy: more than 900 companies closed and 4 thousand jobs lost in the last 18 months revealed Francis Cázarez Oliveros, president of the National Chamber of Commerce.
The business leader explained that the most affected businesses have been small and medium establishments who today face a complicated mix of falling sales, economic uncertainty and an environment of violence that, he said, began to be felt more strongly since September 2024 in Sinaloa.
Cázarez Oliveros warned that, despite the efforts of many merchants not to lower curtains or cut staff, the local economy remains contracted and that is already taking its toll. In this context, he insisted that the commercial crisis in Mazatlán It cannot continue to be confronted only with speeches, but with real measures that help support the companies that still resist.
Furthermore, he criticized that the Government of Sinaloa has announced a strategy soft loans to support local companies, when until now, he noted, this program has not translated into concrete benefits for merchants. For this reason, he called on the authorities to implement urgent financing and stimuli that will stop the deterioration of the commercial crisis in Mazatlán.
