After the Secretary of the Navy announced that the shrimp boat “Tapilu III” was sunk by the crew themselves, off the coast of Mazatlán and that in its holds it was transporting about 10 tons of methamphetamine, the president of the Union of Owners of the Mexican Pacific Coast, Jesús Omar Lizárraga Manjarrez, clarified that this vessel is not part of the adherents of his group, even though it is part of the Mazatlán fleet.

“I understand that this ship is from the port of Mazatlán, I have no more information about it.”

The fishing leader said that the operations by the Navy authorities to combat drug trafficking, which is constant, because with canine units they check each vessel that goes to sea.

“It is not always there, but if that review is done by the Secretary of the Navy, as by the Port Authority, it is an inspection that does not take more than 30 minutes, where the crew helps to expedite, opening the areas of the boat”.

They are reviews that are done in a normal, routine and respectful way, both of the authority and of the fishermen.

The report given by the Navy authority, regarding this seizure, is that during November 9 and 10, surveillance operations were carried out, managing to secure the aforementioned shrimp vessel, which was sunk 76 miles west of Mazatlán, but they still managed to recover part of the illicit cargo.

12 people were also arrested and of the 10 tons of methamphetamine, the authority managed to recover 440 kilograms, as well as 10,000 liters of fuel, since they also carried two boats loaded with gasoline.
